DAVIS & DAVIS TACKLE TRUMAN LAKE, WIN 2022 ANGLERS IN ACTION TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS
Posted by editor on November 7, 2022
2022 PRO-GUIDE BATTERIES AIA TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS, PRESENTED BY PHOENIX BOATS
Truman Lake: November 5-6, 2022
Number of boats: 111
The 2022 Anglers in Action season came to an end at Truman Lake, with some of the best anglers in the region participating in the year end AiA Tournament of Champions on November 5-6, out of Sterett Creek Marina.
Anglers were greeted with unfavorable conditions on Saturday, with winds gusting to 35mph, spitting rain, and temps in the low 40's. Sunday was the complete opposite, with light winds, clear skies, and highs in the lower 70's.
Over $90,000 in cash and prizes was up for grabs, which included the Grand Prize of a 2023 Phoenix 819 boat package. Andre Dickneite & Spencer Clark took the lead on Day 1 of the event, with a solid 5 fish limit that weighed in at 17.36 lbs. Anglers brought in some nice bags of Truman Lake bass on Sunday, including a 20.79 lb. sack weighed in by Marty Watson & Doug Long.
Jimmy Davis and Jackie Davis weighed in 16.67 lbs. on Saturday, landing them in 5th place going into championship Sunday. On Day 2, they set the bar high early on in the weigh-in, with 5 fish that locked in on 17.37 lbs, giving them a 2-day total of 34.04 lbs. Their 2-day total held up throughout the weigh-in, earning them the win and the championship title. Congratulations again to Jimmy Davis & Jackie Davis, your 2022 Anglers in Action Tournament Trail Champions.
THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE ANGLERS & SPONSORS
We want to thank all of the anglers that fished with Anglers in Action this season. We appreciate each and every one of you and hope you all had a great time fishing AiA this year. We also want to thank all of our amazing sponsors and supporters that contribute to the success of AiA, without you all this trail would not be possible. Please support those that support Anglers in Action Tournament Trail.
Special thanks to Anglers Port Marine for all of their help at this tournament and getting the anglers back on the water that had service issues.
Congratulations to Jimmy & Jackie Davis, the 2022 Anglers in Action Champions. Jackie & Jimmy targeted two creeks throughout the weekend to sack up their winning weight of 34.04 lbs.
They reported fishing water that was less than five feet deep both days, cranking timber and stumps with a shad-colored crankbait. They rotated these areas both days and had their limit on Saturday by around 10:30 or 11:00. On Sunday, they fished the same areas and pattern and boated two keepers right off the bat.
The remainder of the day, the fish were far and few and the bites were harder to come by. With 4 in the livewell around 1:30pm on Sunday, their big fish, 5.42 lbs., bit a jig and bumped them up to give them their 2-day winning weight of 34.04 lbs.
They walked away with the Grand Prize of a 2023 Phoenix 819 with a 200 Mercury Pro XS, 2 8-foot Power Pole blades, and 2 Lowrance units from Russell Marine Products.
Jimmy and Jackie want to thank Nitro Boats, Mercury Marine, Tracker Marine Boat Center in Springfield, Pro-Guide Batteries, Lowrance Electronics, Sufix fishing line, and their families for all of their support.
